[Trainer Thoughts] Judgement Free Zone

 
"Don't laugh at me - I'm very out of shape."
"My upper body is super weak, so don't be surprised if I can't do a push-up."
"I haven't worked out in a long time, so don't judge me."
 

These types of phrases are ones I hear all the time from new and prospective clients. 

I don't know where this action of "being judged" by a fitness professional came from, but it's so frustrating! If you're still working out with someone who makes you feel less confident or not good enough- run for the hills!!!!

Also, I'll apologize for these personal trainers and fitness instructors that have ever made you feel judged. You should never feel judged. We are (supposed to be) here to support and encourage you.

  • Accomplish things you didn't think you could do or were possible.
  • Smile after a tough workout.
  • Discover your confidence.
  • Be pushed with encouragement and constant motivation.
  • Live out a very personal, but extremely fulfilling journey.

I posted a quote a while back that states, "Comparison is the thief of joy."
This is so true. Everyone is at a different point in their (fitness, weight loss, life, etc.) journey.  Don't compare yourself, or feel like you'll be judged.

If you're needing an extra push, my advice is to look for a trainer who has a judgment free zone mentality. I believe those people will help get you much further and get you feeling much better about yourself, both physically and mentally.
